Government through the Treasury has announced new charges for eCitizen transactions which take effect immediately.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u in a gazette notice, says the Digital Payments Platform is integrated with all available electronic payment platforms in Kenya including mobile money, electronic bank payments, real-time gross settlements (RTGS), wallets, debit or credit cards and other payment channels.

A nominal administrative fee per transaction has been introduced on eCitizen and shall be rated as follows:

Payments of below KSH. 199 will cost KSH. 5.00, payments of between KSH. 200.00 and KSH. 299.00 will be cost KSH. 10.00 while payments of between KSH. 300.00 and KSH. 499.00 will cost KSH. 15.00.

For eCitizen payments between KSH. 500.00 and KSH. 699.00, one will pay a charge rate of KSH. 20.00, payments between KSH. 700.00 and KSH. 999.00 will now cost KSH. 25.00

Any payment above KSH. 1000.00 will cost KSH. 50.00. For any US dollar, one will be charged $1.00.

The CS says the new changes will apply to all services on eCitizen unless otherwise waived by himself.
