At least 25 people have been arrested and over 117 bongs confiscated as National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) launches fresh crackdown on shisha joints in Nairobi.
The night-long raid on Friday targeted joints in Nairobi’s Kilimani and Kileleshwa areas, officers from NACADA invading Yejoka Gardens and netting merry makers enjoying shisha to pass the night.
NACADA says the operation will continue throughout the festive season to avert chances of youths being inducted into drug abuse.
In 2017, the Government banned the importation, manufacture, facilitation and consumption of shisha in the country, with those found culpable of the offenses, liable to a fine of not less than KSH. 50,000 or a jail term of 6 months or both.
