Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has suspended President William Ruto’s directive of Kenya being a VISA-free state from January 2024.
KCAA says the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) digital platform which will ensure all travelers to Kenya are identified in advance is yet to be fully developed.
“All travelers coming to Kenya from countries that require VISAs shall continue applying for VISAs in the usual manner until the Government communicates the change program to ETA system,” reads a statement from KCAA seen by BRK.
On 12 December during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations, President Ruto made a declaration that Kenya is set to be a VISA-free country, saying the move is meant to boost tourism.
