At least 200 families have been evicted from Government houses in Pioneer Estate in Uasin Gishu County to pave way for President Ruto’s Affordable Housing Project.
Evictees who talked to the media say they were not given enough time to plan their relocation, adding that the Government previously issued them with verbal eviction notices which gave them until March 2024, only to be suddenly kicked out earlier today, 3 January.
They also blame the Government for not being clear on how those evicted will benefit from the newly constructed houses.
