Former rugby player, now a celebrated self-taught chef Dennis Ombachi (The Roaming Chef), explains why he is yet actualize a public-funded ‘mass-cooking’ program where food prepared from his kitchen will benefit deserving families as giveaways.
Ombachi who has taken social media by storm through his captivating cooking content, says the occasional giveaways he does is out of pocket.
Responding to well-wishers ready to sponsor a mass-cooking program that will benefit deserving families, Ombachi explains accountability is a key factor in such an arrangement, and given that he is yet to set up a system to help him monitor the funds, he is not ready to receive money that will not be easily tracked.
“As for now, I don’t have the system in place especially for the sake of accountability so just running it out of pocket as it also feeds into my passion in that I miss cooking large quantities of food.
However in case this changes there will have to be a system in place where the contributions are accounted for and monitored, thank you for all the offers. Y’all are really amazing people. Let’s see how the year goes,” Ombachi says.
