A section of boda boda operators have sued President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Government for allegedly keeping them away from government plans as promised during the campaign period.
The riders (in court papers) say President Ruto used them and Mama Mboga to push his campaign agenda, promising to empower and change their lives, something they now say is hot air.
They further argue that the Kenya Kwanza government has been peddling false narratives that it is a government formed for the Boda Boda and Mama Mboga.
The petition also claims President Ruto’s slogan ‘Serikali ya Kenya Kwanza ni ya Mama Mboga na Watu wa Boda Boda’ has created hostility between their industry and members of the public who feel let down by Ruto’s regime.
The riders through their lawyers, now want the Court to bar the Government from making utterances on Mama Mboga and Boda Boda operators, claiming that it has an effect of threatening to violate the Petitioners’ rights and fundamental freedoms as illustrated.
