Nicholas Musyoka Musau, a Police Constable based at the Nakuru Central Police Station has today (at the Nakuru High Court) been charged with the murder of Ann Maina (a waiter) and Laura Kaswira (bar owner).
The officer is reported to have committed the crime on the night of 12th December, 2023, at Loritas Liquor Club, popularly known as Vegas Club, in Nakuru County.
Court statements say Constable Musyoka was uncomfortable paying a bill of KSH. 14,250 after consuming drinks and food with his friends at the club. He opened fire, killing two people and leaving two others nursing serious injuries.
31-year-old Laura Kwasira succumbed to injuries at the Nakuru Referral Hospital after sustaining at least four gunshot wounds with one penetrating to the spine.
Ann Maina, a waiter at Laura’s bar also died from bullet wounds.
The prosecution has opposed an application for the suspect’s release on bond/bail. The matter has now been adjourned to 17 January, 2024, to allow the probation department to submit the Pre-Bail report that will guide the court in determining the bond terms.
