Lang’ata Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor – Jalang’o has promised to table a Bill in Parliament that will help in the regulation of rented stay apartments, popular as Airbnbs.
Jalang’o while addressing digital media on Wednesday evening, says there’s need to put up a system that has records of all apartments, who operates them and details of who have access to them.
“I’m personally taking that to Parliament. Every single Airbnb must be registered, we must know the owner and you will not be able to get into an Airbnb when we do not know who you are,” the MP says.
The lawmaker was responding to the recent gruesome murder of Starlet Wahu who was found killed in a rented apartment in Nairobi’s South B area.
