A ban has been placed on Airbnb apartments within Kasarani Sub-County (Kasarani, Roysambu, Mirema, USIU, Ruaraka, Ruai) operating with no functioning CCTVs installed.
While announcing the new development, head of Kasarani Divisional Criminal Investigations Jimmy Kimari has also directed all Airbnb operators in the area to keep comprehensive records of all guests they admit to the facilities.
This follows a gruesome murder of a 24-year-old woman early Sunday inside an Airbnb in Roysambu. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the incident.
Police have launched investigations into the matter.
