Angry Ezekiel Mutua bashes media for allegedly misreporting MCSK’s plan to distribute some KSH. 20M to 16,000 Kenyan artists registered with the body.
Mutua says the distribution of the amount will not be equal to all artists as widely perceived, adding that each artist will not receive KSH. 1,250.
“We issued a statement to the media and indicated the criteria used for distribution in line with our rules. People don’t earn the same. Some songs are played more than others.” – Ezekiel Mutua.
Explaining how the KSH. 20M will be distributed, the MCSK CEO says there will be both scientific and general method criteria.
“We will use both scientific and general distribution criteria. Scientific captures the exact usage of one’s music according to airplay records. Then the Board allocates a general amount for those whose music may have faded, is not given airtime, but they are members.
It’s a bonus determined in line with distribution rules,” Mutua says, responding to concerns that some artists will earn more while others pocket close to nothing.
