A man in Embu County is nursing serious burn wounds after locking himself inside his rental house and setting himself on fire, in the process, the entire house catching fire.
Neighbors in the estate located in Dallas area however managed to put out the fire after they noticed smoke billowing from one of the houses.
The fire left a trail of destruction inside the man’s house when it was finally extinguished. Despite an official statement from the police on what led the man to the act, his neighbors cite a domestic dispute and a bitter fallout between the him and his wife.
“This couple has been fighting in this compound everyday since 2022 elections. The man has been accusing his wife of worsening their economic problems because she was allegedly a Kenya Kwanza supporter and voter. It seems he wanted to take his l!fe,” a neighbor was quoted by local media at the scene of the incident.
The man has been admitted at a nearby hospital.
