Police along Mombasa Road around Nyayo Stadium have on Thursday morning arrested dozens of pedestrians avoiding footbridges while crossing the busy highway.
The police say they are not only risking their own lives but also those of other road users.
In Kenya, failing to use a visible footbridge and crossing highways at undesignated points attract a fine of up to KSH. 5,000. The offence was introduced in 2021 after an increasing number of pedestrians were involved in accidents due to failure to use designated footbridges.
