There was a stand-off between villagers and a family in Mokongonyoni in Nyakoe, Kisii County, after they (villagers) totally refused to take part in the funeral plans of a woman they accuse of never participating in any village activity while she was alive.
The late Linet Kerubo, 33, died at least three weeks ago and her remains have been lying in a morgue after villagers ‘ignored’ the family’s help to have her buried. She was staying with her mother.
It forced a local church to intervene and carry out all the burial activities including settling the mortuary bills and grave digging, before burying the woman, an event currently underway at the time of publishing this post.
