The Government has announced a free online training program dubbed ‘Finya Computer Itoe Dollar’, a response to President William Ruto’s recent encouragement for youths to leverage technology for livelihood, instead of waiting for white collar jobs.
Spearheaded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the program is meant to empower and equip youths with digital skills to enable them tap into the online job market.
“The objective of the program is to equip young people with knowledge, skills, and attitudes for digital/online work to enable decent work and earn an income from the Gig & Freelancing,” reads part of the notice from Labour Ministry, seen by BRK.
The training will include Basic and Advance Modules whereas Basic Module encompasses Data Entry, Digital Marketing and Virtual Assistance, while Advance Module includes AI for Graphic Design.
According to the poster, to qualify for the training, an applicant must be a Kenyan of at least 18 years and proficient in computer skills.
The training will run from 4 – 8 March 2024, between 8AM – 5PM on the said days.
