Nairobians are currently experiencing a heat wave, characterized by temperatures ranging between highs of 29°C – 32°C from mid-mornings and run late into the nights.
The temperatures gradually decrease as from 7 – 8PM, some complaining of not being able to sleep between 9PM – 11PM.
A similar period in 2023, Kenya’s capital experienced similar high temperatures which lasted till mid-March.
The Meteorological Department then, explained that the heat that was being experienced at night was a result of the high temperatures experienced during the day.
“What happens when there are very high temperatures during the day is that heat is stored by the ground and you may not expect the temperatures to go down during the night,” he said then.
The department is however yet to comment on the current heat being experienced in Nairobi and selectively, other parts of the country.
