It’s been established that ‘Raha Fest’, a mega concert happening in Nairobi on 30 and 31 March at Uhuru Gardens is majorly being financed by Dr. Alexander Ezenagu, President William Ruto’s son-in-law.
Dr. Ezenagu has reportedly parted with at least $600,000 (approx. KSh. 87M) in Davido’s performance costs alone, at a concert that will also feature multiple local and continental artists including JB Mpiana, (DRC), Musa Keys (SA), King Promise (Ghana), Otile Brown, Mejja, Nviiri, Samidoh, Sanaipei Tande, Nadia, H_art the Band, Bensoul, Femi One, among others.
“He is the financial backbone of Raha Fest, alongside a group of affluent associates, the majority of whom are Nigerians. They are personally funding the concert, with minimal external sponsorship.
Notably, the sponsors affiliated with the event are closely linked to Ezenagu or his network,” says a close source to the event.
This will be Davido’s first return to Kenya for a public performance since 2018. In 2022, a local promoter unsuccessfully attempted to have the Afrobeats mega star back in Kenya. His performance fee at the time was $300,000, approx. KSh. 35M at the time.
Davido will headline Raha Fest on Saturday, 30 March. Tickets to the event are KSh. 6,000 for regular, KSh. 12,000 VIP and KSh. 30,000 VVIP.
