The High Court has on Friday morning lifted the injunction that prevented the Government from printing Digital IDs also known as Maisha Namba.
This now marks a significant step in the implementation of Kenya Kwanza’s Digital ID ecosystem, which is part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing the registration process for individuals through unique identifiable numbers.
The roll-out which was suspended in December 2023, resulted in a backlog of ID applications, impacting hundreds of thousands of Kenyans awaiting IDs or replacements.
