A new proposal by Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome seeks to ban suspects from coming to court hiding their identities.
Multiple times, identities of suspects appearing before courts in Kenya have remained a secret to a few select court officials, while they remain hidden behind hoodies, dark sunglasses or masks.
Police IG says suspects must be clearly seen in court.
“We need to think about these face masks and sunglasses that we are allowing suspects to wear in court, we need to see their faces. Suspects should endure the shame of being presented in court for the alleged crimes committed,” – IG Koome.
