Grammy Award winning Iconic reggae group Morgan Heritage has confirmed the passing on of its lead vocalist, Peter Morgan, 46, popular as ‘Peetah Morgan’. The cause of his sudden death was not disclosed in the announcement made on Sunday.
The family’s statement, shared via social media, expressed love and gratitude while informing of Morgan’s ascension on February 25th, 2024. They thanked well-wishers for their support and requested privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
“It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today.
Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support, and we ask your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing,” reads a disheartening statement from the family.
Morgan Heritage group, all of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, was formed in 1994, consisting of Gramps Morgan, Peter Morgan, Una Morgan (their sister), Lukes Morgan and Mojo Morgan.
Peter Morgan’s unmistakable voice has been at the forefront of Morgan Heritage’s journey for three decades, steering the group through some of the most significant anthems in modern roots-reggae.
Morgan Heritage led by Peter Morgan, has made at least four performance visits to Kenya.
