Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has ordered Akorino Bishop Johanna, controversial singers Chris Embarambamba and William Getumbe to remove their recent inappropriate content from social media and streaming platforms.
In a notice from MCSK seen by BRK, the Commission’s CEO Ezekiel Mutua has raised concern on the kind of content being freely created and shared by the trio who claim to be ‘preaching the gospel’.
The letter cites a recent obscene video that showed Akorino Bishop Johanna reportedly exorcising a woman, while grossly touching her inappropriately.
The MCSK also faults Embarambamba for his latest song ‘Niko Uchi’ and William Getumbe’s ‘Yesu Ninyandue’.
“Such content invite ridicule to the Christian religion as they contain vulgarity and nudity,” reads part of MCSK’s notice.
Further, the commission notes that some of Embarambamba’s dance moves are violent, which if copied by minors, can turn out disastrous.
MCSK has therefore ordered the three through formal communication, to pull down the aforementioned content from their accounts and any streaming platform, failure to which, a legal suit shall be filed against them.
Further, MCSK has written to Meta and YouTube to delete the above content from platforms they have been published.
