A warrant of arrest has been issued against blogger Edgar Obare for publishing on his online platforms, information allegedly defaming Westwick College, a learning institution linked to businesslady Yvonne Mugure and Christine Lewis, also known as Christine Muturi.
Obare on multiple dates beginning mid January this year, unleashed a dossier which claimed Westwick College allegedly shortchanges its students by charging them highly for courses with promises of linking them with jobs abroad.
The blogger further claimed the institution was operating with no valid compliance, adding that both Yvonne and Christine are fraudsters, allegations Ms. Mugure termed as false, fictitious and extremely defamatory.
A court order was issued to Obare in late January asking him desist from further publishing incorrect information relating to the college, a directive he disregarded.
Westwick lawyers in an address to the media, say the court has now issued a warrant of the blogger’s arrest for contempt of court, Ms. Mugure and her co-directors issuing a KSh. 100,000 sum for anyone with information that will lead to Obare’s arrest. The defendants’ lawyers say the case has now moved from civil to criminal.
