48-year-old award-winning Nollywood star Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic, famously known as just Rita Dominic, opted out of the multi-billion Nigerian acting industry around 2001/2002 and relocated to London.
The talented actress says she gave up acting at her prime to allow herself get out of a ‘dark-space’ at the time, following unmentioned issues that were surrounding her. She then relocated to London where she decided to give up stardom.
“You won’t believe it because this is something I’ve never talked about before. While in London as I tried to make ends meet, I started working in a care home as a caregiver for adults with special needs. Some might view it as a step down, I don’t,” she says.
She further explains that taking care of others gave her joy at a time she needed it most because she had previously taken care of her parents while ill.
