Jowie Irungu through his lawyer Andrew Muge, has filed a notice of appeal, showing intent to challenge his conviction and death sentence by High Court Judge Grace Nzioka on Wednesday, after being found guilty of gruesomely killing businesswoman Monica Kimani.
“Take notice that Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie appeals to the Court of Appeal against the decisions of the Honourable Lady Justice Grace Nzioka whereby the Appellant was convicted of Murder and sentenced to death on March, 13, 2024,” reads part of the notice seen by BRK.
Jowie was two days ago sentenced to death by the High Court. Lady Justice Nzioka said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubts that he gruesomely murdered Monica Kimani inside her house in Kilimani over five years ago in September 2018.
