Seasoned media personality Trevor Ombija is low-key setting up a political bid that will see him shelve his journalism career for politics in 2027.
The news anchor at Royal Media’s Citizen TV and luo station Ramogi TV is likely to run for a political seat in his rural backyard in Nyakach, Kisumu County, as the area MP, an aspiration he is yet to officially launch.
Trevor Ombija, also associated with a high-end restaurant in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area, will seek to unsit the current area MP, Aduma Owuor, who is currently serving his third term.
Trevor is a Journalism and Media Studies graduate from the University of Nairobi, who enjoys engaging and moderating various high profile panel discussions on Political, Social, Economic and current affairs.
He started his career as a Jr. Assignment Desk Editor at the China Central Television Africa Bureau, now CGTN, before taking on Radio News Anchoring later on moving to T.V and taking on a role as an Associate Producer.
He has close to a decade experience in Journalism having held different roles in different media houses. He is currently the host of Citizen TV’s Monday Report which seeks to empower the people by giving them an opportunity to ask their leaders and persons of interest direct questions in the Town Hall session.
In addition, he hosts Citizen TV’s morning show Day Break and also a news anchor at luo TV station owned by Royal Media Services, Ramogi TV.
