A middle-aged man in Kisumu is nursing serious bodily injuries following a vicious attack by neighbors who were responding to an alarm raised by his wife, with whom he has two daughters.
The victim is engaged to a woman who is allegedly an immediate ex-lover of a controversial Kakamega politician, a sitting MP. He says despite the woman claiming she no longer has anything to do with the first time MP, he insists the two have continued to communicate for sometime now, an affair that is slowly ruining his marriage.
Last Wednesday around 11PM, he noted the woman exchanging lengthy paragraphs with someone he highly suspected was the politician. On confronting her and demanding to see whoever she was chatting with, the woman dramatically grew hostile and started shouting for help, claiming the man wanted to k!ll her.
Neighbors who responded to the calls for help broke the door to the couple’s house and aggressively descended on the man, one machette-wielding ‘neighbor’ leaving him with severe cuts on the head and limbs, surprisingly not bothering to inquire what had transpired between the two.
The attackers kicked him out of the house half-naked. He found his way to the Kisumu County Referral Hospital where he sought treatment before reporting the matter at Kogony Police Post. At least three of the suspects were arrested after the case being transferred to Dago Police Station but they have since been released on bail.
He now says the woman has reportedly influenced the authorities to ignore the matter, as police previously investigating the incident are no longer responsive. He has also been forced to seek refuge somewhere else as a result of fearing for his life. He adds that the police and the attackers have been threatening him to withdraw the matter.
The woman on the other hand has also promised to file an assault case against him.
