Talented Ohangla singer Prince Indah, whose real name is Evans Ochieng Owino, is currently being criticized for announcing he is continuing with his weekend schedule despite a fatal 4AM accident in Kisii, near Choma Choma Lounge, where he was performing last night.
According to a statement by Prince Indah, the accident, involving a lorry that lost control, veered off the road, and ploughed into a section of the nightclub, resulted in the deaths of at least eight people, including his security staff (George Okul) and three of his fans, who he says are well known to him.
“Other band members who got severe injuries but are now in stable conditions and out of danger were the driver of a lorry that carries my sound system; he has a cut on the head; MARCYL ABOGE, also part of my security detail, had a cut on his head; and OWEN MUSILA, a saxophonist, had a deep cut in his mouth,” reads part of Indah’s statement seen by BRK.
What has led Indah to be mocked is his announcement of continuing with his weekend schedule by performing later today in Siaya County ‘to cushion the bills in various hospitals around Kisii following the tragic incident,’ many feeling it’s an inconsiderate move following the death of one member of his staff and at least three other band members sustaining injuries.
This has led the singer to close the comments section of the accident’s statement on Instagram and limit those who can interact with his Facebook post, announcing the incident.
