Seasoned business executive Polycarp Igathe has been appointed the Managing Director of Tiger Brands International (TBI), a South African packaged goods company.
Mr. Igathe has been serving the company as its Chief Growth Officer (CGO) since November 2022 after losing his gubernatorial bid in Nairobi County.
A statement on his appointment seen by BRK praises him as having grown the brand in his role as CGO.
“Tiger Brands has a strong leadership and talent pipeline. This is evident in the appointment of the new Managing Director who is internal to the company, with credible leadership experience and a track record of excellence in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector,” says Tjaart Kruger, Tiger Brands CEO.
Igathe, considered one of the most sought after corporate hotshot, has over 28 years of experience in commercial and operations management, strategy, and M&A integration.
He has previously served in senior positions at Coca-Cola SABCO Kenya, EABL, Haco Industries, Africa Online, Vivo Energy and Equity Bank.
He also briefly served as Nairobi County’s Deputy Governor under Mike Sonko before resigning after 5 months.
Before his short stint in politics, Igathe worked at Tiger Brands as the Regional Managing Director (East Africa) between 2008 and 2013, making a return to the company in 2022.
