A report from a Government insider hints that National Identification Cards might start having expiry dates. The documents will be fitted with microchips which will be valid for a decade after which card holders of expired ones will be required to renew them.
The source explains that installation of the chip is a global practice which provides additional security in safeguarding biometric and user data.
It’s however not clear of current card holders will be required to apply for the new generation cards.
