Police in Dagoretti are looking for a middle-aged man who took off with a mobile phone belonging to one of the officers who had arrested him on Thursday evening.
It’s reported that the suspect, only identified as ‘Dogo’, believed to be behind multiple cases of petty theft in Kawangware and Satelite areas, together with his gang, had been arrested on Thursday by two police officers who were on patrol.
“While he was being loaded into a police vehicle, he swiftly snatched a police phone and took off into the dark inside the sharks. No trace of him was found, as he (the suspect) seemingly knows this area well,” says a witness who was at the scene.
The police officer whose phone was stolen says he thought the suspect had been handcuffed by his colleague. He says the phone stolen by ‘Dogo’ is a Samsung S8, adding that it was switched off less than an hour after the incident that has left Kawangware locals puzzled.
